What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. ~ Martin Luther

Downtime

Hope everyone had a great Fourth. We missed out on fireworks, but I wouldn't be surprised if MOST people did. It rained, sprinkled, oured, then did it all over again. We did manage to get in a few sparklers.

The party was, sparse. There was SO much food-and most of it I sent with Mattie to work today. I just didn't have room in my fridge. And it isn't exactly easy (or good) to freeze things like coleslaw and pasta salad. :-)

I am looking forward to some down-time. Having our weekend guests and then a party a few days later kind of took the fizzle right out of me. Thankfully, though, all is back to normal, the house is clean, and there is enough food for leftovers-so today I am going to spend in my craft room.

I have all sorts of 'works in progress' going on in there. Most of them baby gifts. Is there something in the water? Or a $5.99 special going on somewhere?

That reminds me. I never shared this story.

Anyone who has followed this blog (or the lady behind the blog) for any length of time knows that my Little Miss wants a littler Miss for a sister. REALLY bad. Really REALLY bad. I hear her praying about it at lunchtimes. She told me the other day that she looked out her window when she was in bed and asked God for a sister. Not a day goes by that I don't hear SOMETHING about it-whether it is to save some clothes that she has outgrown for 'her little sister' or just daydreaming about it. So-if you hadn't known that....now you do.

Each morning starts the same way in this house. We give each other hugs and kisses and ask these same questions, in the same order, every day. It goes something like this. Good morning Corynn. "How did you sleep?", "Were you warm enough?", "Did you have any dreams?" And she always makes things up because she never really does remember her dreams. Then, she does the same to me.

One particular morning, I had just woken up from a very vivid dream about us adopting a little girl. (Yes-I am right along with her on the wanting a baby girl thing...) In a nutshell: Matt and I went on a date (now I KNOW it was a dream....) and the kiddos were left at home with SOMEONE. We stopped into a Dollar General store for something and on our way in we saw this huge sparkly, glittery sign saying "Take KJiou home for $5.99" Of course, anyone would think that would be a doll or something. But it was actually a little girl. She was curled up in the corner, sitting on puppy bed and holding a blanket. She had jet black hair, cut straight across and beautiful little asian eyes. She was shy and scared-but heck-she was being ADVERTISED. Who wouldn't be? I found out it was HER that was for sale. her parents had both died and her aunt and uncle (who owned the store) didn't want to keep her. I begged Matt and so we 'bought' her and on our way out picked up a bed for her and some other stuff. She was five years old.

(Yes-I remember all my dreams.)

So. I tell Corynn all about this dream. She gets this SUPER excited look on her face. Her eyes just LIGHT up and her smile spreads ear to ear. She said...

"Did Papa say YES?"

"Yes-Papa said we could have her and so we got her a bed and such." I said.

She replied, "She can share MY bed- she doesn't need her own. When did this happen??"

Thinking she was referring to the dream, I said "Last night."

She started frantically looking all around and eventually said, "Well...where IS she?"

This girl has no concept of ANYTHING does she?!?!

That is a funny story, Rebecca! I think girls must just be like that (wanting another baby). Boys are pretty oblivious, except when they are leaning on your watermelon-sized belly and it kicks them in the head. Then, they want to lift up your shirt to "see the baby". Stephen thinks if he looks into my belly button long enough, he will see the baby... :D
